Our partner, Dr. Jörg-Michael Scheil, wrote an article titled “Health Products and E-Commerce in China” for the DCW Yearbook 2020, which is now available online.
Increasing health awareness, aging population and persisting safety concerns with respect to local products are all factors that drive the Chinese consumers’ needs for food supplements, medical and cosmetic products imported from abroad. However, European manufacturers and exporters are oftentimes confronted with an abundance of confusing product-related legislations that make the market entry of their products challenging.
The goal of Dr. Scheil’s latest article is to provide an overview of the current regulatory regime and to investigate to what extent the use of e-commerce might be a beneficial and straightforward alternative for foreign producers who wish to cater to Chinese consumers.
